Youth
There are more than 18,000 young Travellers in Ireland under the age of 24, making up over half of the total Traveller population. The voices of these young people need to be heard and understood. The ITM Youth programme is all about bringing young Travellers together to an inclusive space where they can participate, develop and be empowered to be leaders of their generation.
Young Travellers’ Forum
The Young Travellers’ Forum was started by ITM in 2019. It brings young Travellers from all over Ireland together to meet and discuss their identity, their culture and the issues which affected them. There were four youth events held over 2019/2020 in which over 80 young people came together for these discussions. Young Travellers, Traveller organisations, decision makers, Traveller activists and role models, youth workers, and facilitators all play a role in the Young Travellers’ Forum
A forum is a meeting where ideas and views on a particular issue are discussed
